Episode #323: Faith, Fire, and Healing with John Rabins

John Rabins is a United States Air Force Veteran, retired optometrist, and award-winning author whose writing career was launched within days of the loss of his home and rental property on June 11th , 2013, to the devastating Black Forest fire in Colorado, the exact same day that his father passed away in California.

As part of his healing journey, John embarked on a ninety-day, 4,320 mike solo bike ride across the country, which was an arduous trip he prepared for with the help of his beloved dog, Obee. His first book titled “Defined by Fire: Seven Life-Changing Lessons from Devastating Tragedy,” chronicles his insights into his wonderful opportunity for Spiritual growth as a result of the tragedies. His eBook is titled “Spiritual Musings from the Saddle of a Bicycle,” and was penned during his ride from Astoria, Oregon to Yorktown, Virginia.

John shares how these devastating events actually strengthened his faith and his relationship with God, along with the sense of strength and inner peace in spite of his loss. He also shares the powerful lessons he learned from the fire, as well as the devotionals he penned during his long and arduous solo ride across the country. Even though he was riding solo, he never felt alone, because he felt the presence of the Lord with him the entire time.
