Episode #17 The Walk of A Lifetime

How in the world do you conquer life’s biggest challenges? Just ask Polly Letofsky, and she will tell you “one step at a time.” Polly would know, because she’s an expert of the subject.

Exactly twenty years ago, on August 1st, 1999, Polly Letofsky left her Colorado home and headed west. She traveled across 4 continents, 22 countries and over 14, 000 miles—by foot—becoming the first woman to walk around the world. As an awareness campaign for breast cancer, survivors and supporters around the world came out to walk with her.

Everyday strangers welcomed her into their homes, offered food, accommodation and friendship. The world had embraced her. But it was never an easy road. Every day Polly struggled with adversity. Floods, earthquakes, languages, muggings, religious riots—and antiquated road signage that left her lost and miles off her path. The ultimate challenge came in the middle of Polly’s five-year journey when September 11 flung us all in a crossroads in world history. Her journey became much more than a fundraising event. It became a journey personifying the spirit of commitment and perseverance that will compel us all to conquer life’s biggest challenges—one step at a time.

Episode #15: The Genius Of Pilates

Pilates is a household name. But it wasn’t always that way. As recently as twenty-five years ago, very few people had even heard of The Pilates Method. But when it became popular in the ’90s, it hit the fitness industry as the hottest “new” exercise on the market. Not true.

Pilates has now been around for a hundred years, and has helped millions of people recover from injuries, improve their posture, core strength, balance, fitness, fitness, health, and general mobility.

Pilates has a lot of really cool (and incredibly expensive) equipment that provides a safe and supportive way to work out, as long as you have a qualified instructor. But what makes Pilates so powerful and effective are the six basic principles outlined by Joseph Pilates as he developed this remarkable method.

This episode explains the six basic principles as well as how you can apply these principles to every physical activity that you do, from hiking, biking, swimming, dancing, walking, or even cleaning your kitchen or unloading your groceries.

Episode #14 Three Ninja Tips For Life

Often times life presents us with unexpected and challenging opportunities. We have two choices: embrace the challenge or walk away. However, if we walk away we might be missing out on an incredible experience that can change the direction of our lives forever. In a good way.

Which is exactly what happened to me when I had the chance to begin training in Ninpo Tai Jutsu. What started as “I’ll take a few classes and quit” eventually resulted in becoming my teacher’s first female black belt

Honesty, effort, and commitment are the first three traits of the ninja that I learned as a brand new martial arts student. However, these three little words have different practical applications to each and every one of us, both in martial arts training and life in general.

This episode outlines these three tips along with examples on how you can expand on these three ninja traits which you can apply to every single aspect of your life. It also encourages you take the first steps to get you out of your comfort zone, become a leader, a role model, or achieve anything that your heart desires.

I believe there is a black belt in each and every one of us, both literally and figuratively speaking. Download this episode, take those first steps, and unleash your personal power!

Episode #13: Everything’s A Weapon

Here’s a fun-filled ninja secret which I learned even before I began my martial arts training. It was my teacher’s favorite subject, which was, “Everything’s a weapon.” I thought he was insane. Until I finally began training with him and realized he was right.

The reality is that we do need tools to protect ourselves. Unfortunately, another reality is that a weapon can easily be taken away from us by an attacker and used against us. So, what’s a person to do?

The answer is in this episode. Discover the one secret weapon that every woman needs in her arsenal. It’s safe, practical, and extremely effective. It rocked my world, and it can rock yours, too!

Ballet is the motherload for health, fitness, strength, and flexibility. However, traditional belief is that ballet is only for children and aspiring young professionals. That simply isn’t true! Adults of every age (and any age) can enjoy the remarkable health benefits of ballet. Ballet is the ultimate fountain of youth, and you are never too old to start taking ballet classes. I know many adults who began their ballet training in their 50s, 60s, and even 70s.

This Bonus Episode features professional ballet dancer, teacher, choreographer and all-around great guy, Radoslaw Kokoszka. He shares his remarkable story of becoming a professional ballet dancer as well as his personal philosophy of ballet and dance in general. His unique and gentle approach to teaching ballet to people of all ages is positive, uplifting, and inspiring. He also is excited to announce the addition of a new adult beginning ballet class right here in the Denver area.

However, even if you aren’t in Denver, Radek encourages everyone to look for an adult beginning ballet class, because not only will it help you get into the best physical shape of your life (no matter your age), it will help improve your cognitive function as well as your balance, posture, strength, flexibility, coordination, spatial awareness and problem-solving skills.

Also, there is nothing that can quite compare to the social aspect of ballet and the exhilaration of getting together with a group of people who share a passion with you. Finally, ballet is like food for your soul, and it fills your heart with joy.
